MEDICO Medical Relief Mission

January 2004

In January of 2004, I had the great pleasure in participating in a medical and dental mission to the Central American country of Honduras. Under the auspices of MEDICO, we set up a temporary clinic and treated almost 2200 people in the remote town of El Negrito.

Dental services provided included extractions, fillings, and cleanings for these hard working people. The combination of poverty, marginal nutrition, and lack of access to care makes for rampant tooth decay. Dental caries (decay) is the most common infectious disease in the world, and borders on an epidemic in much of the developing world. It was truly gratifying to help these people who have so little.

January 2005

In January of 2005, my wife and I returned to Honduras with MEDICO where, in the town of Sulaco, we treated almost 2000 people.

June 2006

In June of 2006, my son, wife, and I returned to Honduras with MEDICO. We visited the town of San Jose de Jalisco. Over 1600 people were treated in the clinic.

June 2007

In June of 2007, my son, wife, and I returned to Honduras with MEDICO. We visited the town of San Bartolo in Lempira province. Over 2200 people were treated in the clinic.

June 2008

In June of 2008, my son, wife, and I returned to Honduras with MEDICO. We visited the town of San Rafael in Lempira province. Over 1600 people were treated in the clinic.
