Our Infection Control

We want to take this opportunity to reassure you that in this practice, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our patients and employees.  There’s no other way to put it...

We use stringent infection control protocols, products and procedures in our office.  We follow and in many cases exceed American Dental Association, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Centers for Disease Control infection control guidelines.

We employ the following quality controls:

we completely sterilize all dental instruments before each use

we clean all dental handpieces to remove surface material and then heat sterilize them in an autoclave

we clean all dental instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner, then package and heat sterilize them

we use a biologic monitoring service to be certain that our autoclave is always working properly

instruments which cannot withstand the intense heat of the autoclave are chemically sterilized

we use disposable prophy (polishing) angles, air/water syringe tips, suction tips and other disposable instruments wherever possible

we wear disposable gloves, face masks, and protective eyewear as barrier techniques

we disinfect all environmental surfaces with a hospital grade germicide/disinfectant prior to each patient

many surfaces (light handles, headrests, trays, etc.) are covered with disposable sleeves or wraps

we utilize strict waste control procedures for sharp instruments, such as needles and scalpel blades, and for biohazardous waste

we take an initial, comprehensive medical history of each patient, then update it at subsequent appointments

we use sterile water in our handpiece water lines to ensure bacteria free water

If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.  We are proud of our infection control program and will continue to do everything possible to protect our patients, ourselves and our families.
